Online shopping has become a big part of our lives that it’s quite impossible to avoid it. You can enjoy the of the comfort of your home without the hassles and having things delivered to your doorstep. Time saving and discounts are big perks of online shopping. However, there are a lot of scams out there when it comes to online shopping. Today we’ll share with you 7 tricks that you need to know to shop online safely and confidently.

  1. Look for HTTPS:// in the URL

Only use your credit cards on the website that has https:// at the beginning of their URL. HTTPS stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure. This means that any transactions done on this website is encrypted and secured. However, there are also websites that look very trustworthy but they may not ship your products or they use images from another company. Look up reviews before purchasing.

  1. Check the Company Legitamacy

It’s very important to know that the websites you are buying from exist. You can look for their contact us page to make sure you can reach them or find out about their business address. Also check them out on social media. See if they reply to customers and what other people are saying about them.

  1. See if You Can Trust the Brand

There are a lot of copycats out there these days. Some website sell deeply discounted clothes or accessories. They usually have beautiful photos of the products. Only when you receive the products you find out that the quality or sometimes style is completely different than the photos. It always helps to google the brand to find out about what other people have said. Do not only rely the reviews on their own website.

  1. Avoid Signing in with your Passwords and Using Your Credit Card on Public Wifi

You never know how secure the wifi you are using is when on public wifi. When shopping online it’s best to do it at home or at work when you know the connection is secured.

  1. See Reviews from Real Customers

Sometimes reviews on websites are not authentic. Dig a bit deeper to find what other customers are saying about this particular brand on google or on social media. Trusting fellow shoppers is always a good idea.

  1. Don’t Click Accept any Offers or Put your E-Mail address

If you do, you may be a victim of phishing (which is the fraudulent attempt to get sensitive information like your passwords or credit cards).

  1. Install Anti-virus software

Better be safe than sorry, like they say. There are many programs you can install, for examples – Antivirus, Personal Firewall or Endpoint Protection to add more layers of security to your online shopping.
